    how do i create the effect of a blurred image in flash 5?

    and can i feather the edges of masks?

    Hey there,


    Repeat the text three or four times but offset each one 2 more pixels or so to the left. Then fade out each one more then the last using tint or alpha settings..
    If you like you can use a rectangular mask over all of it so it hides the breaks between copies.

    Yes, to make a feathered edge just make a new linear gradient which goes from whatever colour to transparent...

    Sorry the last point about the feathered edge only worked in flash4 i guess....

    thankyou for your help....i was just getting frustrated with that transparent gradient....darnit....is there any other way??

    you can also do it using AS, but it can be complicated, part from that you're stuck using Alpha. it ain't that bad, just time consuming

    i've spent the last 5 minutes hunting the movies for a script for ya but to no avail. i will keep hunting and post if successful. you really don't wanna try it, a bit of configuring and it can get complicated. stick to the alpha method i reckon
