I was wondering if anyone could help or even if it is possible to make a heart beat monitor you know the flatline things then you get bumps don't know how to really explain it but if someone could help a newbie it would be greatly appreciated ;

Would it be better to use Flash for this, as opposed to Swish?
-
i made an animated GIF of one and then split each frame.
-
Would it not be wasteful to place frame-by-frame GIF images into a flash movie?
That's kinda going against the Vector-based structure of Flash where it draws everything rather than laying up images.

Hi
I did this in Flash which might be the effect you need:
http://www.hafberg.com/map.swf
I don't know enough about swish to know if its possible with that programme. Give me a shout if you need instructions.
-
Could try it.
Yeah it probably would be better to use flash but I'm not quite that good with it so I figured there might be a way with swish just cause I know the program better.

Re: Could try it.
As far as I know, Swish is perfect for text effects. However, your problem looks a-kin to some shape and motion tweening in Flash.
I may have a go at producing the effect you want later on

In answer to your email. The map effect could serve for a heartbeat trace. The effect is quite simple. The map is a line drawing used as a mask layer.
Underneath it is a couple of motion tweened circles which produce the radar sweep and the persistance following it. There's also another circle above the map to look like the radar wave front.
There are various keyframes on the layers to allow for different levels of alpha as the wave passes. It took a bit of tweeking to get the right effect is all.
To do a heartbeat, I would just make a line instead of a map. If you wanted the trace to alter - to stimulate a heart attack -I'd just make the line a separate movie with different lines and I'd use some frame or button action to more from frame to frame.
Hope that helps

Sounds like a cunning plan! I can see how that works
In that case I think the hardest task I have is drawing an accurate pulse!
Anyone got a picture?

Hi,
is this the basic idea of what your looking for?:
