I recently recieved a demo cd from Microsoft (for their bcentral site) and surprisingly enough the interface was a flash projector file. In diferent places on the cd they were able to have an .avi file play a short movie.

I also noticed on the cdrom there was a file folder for the flash projector, one for the avi's, and a folder for vbscript.

Is it possible to insert avi's into a flash projector or do you need to know how to do it with another scripting (coding) format?

    Thanks

You should try the vid2flash software which allows users to import video into flash. It will do exactly what you are trying to do.

It basically converts .avi, .mov, and .mpeg into .swf format.

This way your movie does not depend on an external player or format. Instead you can load your .swf into your existing .exe

You can get a free trial here

or buy the full beta for $25.00 from the website.

Hmm.. I wonder if there is a VBS function for MCI..?

If you could throw up the .vbs files or send them to me.. I could have a look and see if there is a video function being called there..

You can place entire .AVI files in flash.. you can also use one of many third party tools that allows playing of video files through your projector or web page..

Just remember though that Microsoft invented windows they know it in and out.. and it's not a bother for them to do custom programming to demo there own software..

Can you right click on the projector file and tell me what's on the general and version tabs or post snapshots of the property pages?
