I have a cartoon which I have animated in flash, I have it in my website and I want it to talk with the user. The user will ask questions and I will answer them via IRC. Can this be done? How?

Do you want the cartoon character to be able to say "ANYTHING" or just pull from a library of random pre-recorded phrases?

ThenIwould like too answer the questions via Irc, so I would answer the question from the user but the answer would appear below the cartoon as if the cartoon had answered. Can someone help me?
