dynamic text field under masked layer will not display aliased text. why???

Hi,

I have a dynamic text field which is being masked. The text being displayed in the text field will only appear if I embed the font (arial of all things).

If I turn the embed buttons completely off, the text in the dynamic field which should appear as aliased text dosent appear at all.

I have tested this text field on a layer which isn't masked and it works fine.

So why is it that non embeded text will not appear in this field under a masked layer! I'm really getting frustrated with this. Can anyone help?

device fonts cannot be tweened or masked
.......and they also do not displayed antialiased
