I'm re-posting this so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. I wanna hear some answers to these questions. For those of you who are having trouble finding clients, let's brainstorm here so we can remedy that problem. What do you think of my ideas for finding someone else to advertise your services? If you can think of something that might work better or will save money and have the same positive effect, post it!

    -----------------------------------------------------------
After having read Napoleon Hill's "Think And Grow Rich", I'm beginning to see things in a new light.

'Form your mastermind group.' If you've read his book, you know what I'm talking about. For those of you who haven't, I pity you. No, I'm kidding...what it means is that instead of doing everything on your own, trying to learn everything yourself, hire a specialist to do it for you to free up your time for more important things.

Obviously, the goal here for someone in web design who is looking to make as much money as possible, is to run your own show with people under you. For someone who just started out doing freelance, I don't have the money to start hiring designers but since I'm having problems getting gigs, why can't I at least hire my own salesman?

That is, instead of me going out there and putting flyers out around town, hoping people will call me, why not get someone to do the advertising for me and pay him a percentage for each project so I don't go broke in the mean time waiting for something to come in?

Is this possible to get somebody to go out and get you work on these terms of compensation? When interviewing them, what skills and background would they need specifically?

*** 9 steps to get your bank account loaded ***

    Hi ya'll,

1 - Call a company and check if the adres is still
    up-to-date.

2 - Try to find out who is the person that handles
    things like advertising and public-relations

3 - Look at the companys website (if they have one)
and write down what could be better.

4 - Write a letter to the PR of the company with a small
txt in which you give them a bit advice about there
    website.

    5 - After a few day's (say 3) you call the PR-guy of the
company and ask if you can further explain your letter.

6 - If they want that, you KNOW they are interested.

7 - At the appointment you give them some more advice, and
    they think: Hmmmmm.....he's right.

8 - At that point you have to grab them with things like
    a good price and offer.

9 - Make something good and don't let them down.

This approach alway's works for me.

    Cheers

The book was written in 1937 and is a classic. It teaches you how to train your mind to realize what you want and then how to plan on getting it. Well worth the read.

Yep I'm sure my way works hahahaha

    I did it again,

Yesterday I called a company which I send a mailing/letter and asked them if I could further explain my letter.

And they were enthousiastic about the letter I wrote and they wanted me to talk further about my ideas.

So Sryder go get em. Everyone can do it.

    Cheers

    Good for you!!

Would it be too much to ask to see what your mailer consists of? I am trying to get ideas to follow your advice.

    Thanks!

I think this is a great post and really like the way we all help each other become more sucessful.
I think that the idea posed earlier of offering CD business cards is a great idea. Id be curious to hear the opinion of those that have done it. I have a few questions about the process.

Where can we get business card size CD's and for how much?

Do we need a special burner?

How do you prevent the client from just burning his own copies after you sell him the first one?

How do you get their logo printed on to each CD?

I am intrested in offering this as a service as well as doing it for myself.
Thanks in advance for your opinion

Sure... First I write a letter in which I tell how many sites are just a company folder on the net while it could be so much more. I tell them how the internet could save time and money for the company. for example 'online price offers' or 'databases'. (that's the trigger that makes them think)

Then I give the company some advice about their website and how it could be better.

In the envelop I also put a letter/e-mail opener that has the shape of a '@' and my company's name is printed on it(this stays a day or three on their desk, and when I call them i have made a link)

I hope this gives you some inspiration, good luck

    Cheers
