    I have a button inside of a movie clip and I want to have the user connect to another scene by clicking this button. I know that this is a common thing, but I've forgotten it.

    on (release) {
    gotoAndPlay ("_root.scene2", 1);
    }

    This is what I'm doing right now and it's just bringing me to the beginning of the movie clip that the button is in.

    What should I do instead?

    time

    C'mon guys. I know that it's a bit of a stupid question, but I haven't worked in Flash for 2 months and I'm rusty.

    Can someone please help me with this one? I keep trying different combos and I've wasted so much time.

    doesn't work

    I just tried your suggestion, but that's what I initially started with and it doesn't work. It just begins again at 1 of the movie clip the button is in. I want it to start at 1 of "Scene 2".

    ?

    anybody have clue?

    Anybody know why neither of these works? I attached them to a button in a movieclip, that when clicked, should bring the user to another scene?

    The 2 that don't work:

    on (release) {
    gotoAndplay ("Scene 2", 1);
    }

    on (release) {
    gotoAndPlay ("_root.scene2", 1);
    }

    Put a frame label in the first frame of your scene 2. Target that. You need to target a label as well when targeting the main timeline.

    on (release)
    tellTarget ("_root.") {
    gotoAndPlay ("Scene 2", "framename");
    }

    that should do it.
