    ok here

    open your text motormc
now you need to put your up and down buttons where you want them located in that mc also bring your scrollup and down mc into that mc. apply the scripts and it should work

that was the original setup. i think...

can i just keep the AS the way i have 'em and not worry bout the path problem (../)?

    i got it to work

You have your up and down buttons plus the scroll mc's in the panel motor mc they have to be in the textmotor mc
Just bring them over to the textmotor mc on seperate layers and let me know if it works.

    just do this

copy and paste them one at a time from the panel motormc over to the textmotor mc that way u don't have to write the script again. leave the scripts the same as mentioned before....with the ../ and expressions checked.

umm...your suggestion did something. now when i click the scroll buttons the text at least BLINKS now, but doesn't move. i can feel it trying to move...i sense that the force may be present in this jedi text.

    UPDATE:

I got it to work with the exception that when you click the down button it scrolls down the entire body text in one click, and when you click up, it can't scroll the text up.

    any ideas??

It works completely now, up and down and down and up and every which way.....awesome!

is there a way to make the text anti-aliased?

If i have the text as a variable, it cannot be modified, is that correct? And to have the text antialiased, I'd need to create the text in flash?

Can I use the loadvariables function for HTML rather than a txt file?

    not sure but

    Dean

    Try this site here http://flash.cybermeister.net/loadva...variables.html

It seems you have to use the external text.
You can use html tags in the text file for links and such.

As discribed on the bottom of the page.

I think I might even do that now...

That's a nifty lil page you got there my man!

Here's a question for you: can flash recognize ALL tags? like <img> and <table> and <br> tags????

If so I may have a solution for maintenance....

    I don't think so

Nope I can't get it to take them tags. I didn't think flash would do that but I wasn't sure.

Plus that page was just for none scrolling text.
Getting that to scroll would be a pain for me to try.
