I'm running a G4, OS 9.1, with my Flash 5 application_I downloaded samples from Flash-Kit Movie Files, But at this point, have not been able to get the files open_When ever I try to open [I'm importing] any of the sample downloads, I get the following error "FLASH DOEN'T RECOGNIZE THE FILE FORMAT ".fla" WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY IMPORTING VIA QUICKTIME" If anyone has the Brain-Power to figure this one out I would love to hear from you_Very Soon, as I'm trying to put together a starving artist portfolio for an important job interview.
Thank you in advance for your Genus!

don't import the files, just open the files and go to the bottom of the open dialog and choose all files.
Make sure you get the latest version of flash from Macromedia (5.0a)

are you sure that it was a flash 5 fla?
i know that you might have checked. just woundering if you had downloaded a flash 4 fla and not a flash 5. as flas 5 is not backwards compatible.
this might not help!!!

I have never had a problem opening FLA files on the mac. Have you made sure that you have the latest version of flash. Macromedia has released an updated version of Flash 5 for the Mac.
Thanks

I have never had a problem opening flash files from either the Mac or PC. If the files don't work I find that an email application has screwed the files up, or the file is corrupted on both platforms.
Just make sure you have upgraded you Mac version of flash to 5.0a.
Thanks

same problem
I find I have the same problem. I have flash 5.0a and the only way I can open any downloaded FLA file is to open as library which does no good for getting any script that is placed on items on the stage. I find I have to try to recreate the FLA using my own knowhow which is hard when your looking at something you've never built before.
any suggestions?

This one's great:
load flash
open the folder with the .fla that you want to use. MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING "ALL FILES" and not "ALL FORMATS"
this one took me a while also
gratis
