Thread: problem with Flax 1.13

  1. #1
Is anyone else experiencing this problem. With FLAX installed on my win2000 system (on a drive other than the main windows drive) when I open it my text dialo area is all corrupt. SPecifically, the three cool new buttons for outline gradient or plain are misplaced and are floting over the western encoding drop down. It is odd. I simply can't get them. I have tried reinstalling - same hting. More odd because it used to work!

    jmd,
Did it cease working correctly when you installed Windows 2k? Or was it working ok and then just stopped, all on the same operating system?

No - same operating system. The only change that has been made to my system is th einstallation od directx 8a. My screen settings, etc have not changed either

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of DirectX being the culprit, but I agree that your problem is odd...
I would email support@goldshell.com and see if they're aware of a fix for you.

What seems strange is the font of your dialog: it's supposed to
be the smallest Verdana, but this one is clearly bigger, and (I guess) not Verdana.

I think that the buttons are on the "correct" position, but since
the prog somehow cannot load Verdana, the window becomes bigger,
and all texts (apart from the buttons) shift.

Could you check whether you still have Verdana on your computer?

Well, all is fixed on my end - apparently Direct X 8A did a number on my whole system. After 6 hours on tech support with the Win2000 support people (and an inplace upgrade, etc etc) my Flax (and all other dialogs) returned to normal.

And yes - verdana was installed on my system.

Well, thanks all for your help

I would check the Direct X issue. I have had similar problems with several versions of Direct X and several different video cards. If your video card supports OpenGL and Direct 3D you may also need to check those settings (I wish I could tell you what the settings should be but everytime I have a problem it is a matter of tweaking the settings for awhile to resolve it).

    Cheers,

    Flick

    Re: Same

I expect it hasn't to do with the Win version.

The DirectX might indeed be a problem. I haven't got a clue though
how, and how it can be prevented.

Although still 1 - 2 months from being released, FlaX version 1.32
will try to bypass the problem. So then, even though the font might
be the intended font, you will be able to see something, and to work
    properly.
