need a program that seperates fg and bg

can someone tell me where or how i can seperate an image foreground from the background ? like if u write text and kill the white background, so if u paste it into a red bg, u'll the text and red bg, nothing else !! can anyone help ?

I'm not sure I understand your question, so I take a stab at a couple possibilities.

If you are trying to separate text from a background in an exising image, the only way I know how to do it is to have the original source image with layers intact and edit it in the program it was made (i.e. photoshop, fireworks, etc.) -- OR -- have a LOT of patience to edit it pixel by pixel.

Otherwise, if you are talking about creating the image from scratch and being able to edit the background your text is on, get a graphics program that works with multiple layers like Photoshop or Fireworks.
