No I mean corporate branding - like building a identity for a company.

A guy offered to advise us on brand consistency etc. but he's asking close to a million bucks.

Advertising and the Law - Clarisa de Jager; and
Building Brands Directly - Stewart Pearson

Try at Exclusive Books, Facts & Fiction, Juta, or even CNA
..... look in the advertising/marketing sections.

My boss hasn't seen the quote yet but I have a sneaky suspision the answer will be a short and firm &*%(&*%&^$%*$* off!!!

Yah, a million dollars, that's alot. But that doesn't mean he does not know what he is talking about. Is he with a firm of some kind? Who are their clients? Branding is not an easy thing, we deal with it in advertising as well as a thousand other things that all create brand identity, recognition, brand loyalty, etc. It's about a lot more than saying to use the same logos. It's about the whole picture in front of you, how your business and product are communicated.
I'd like to say just what this person was going to do for a milion dollars, and I'd like to know what you are trying to improve branding on.
