Has anyone attempted a text effect like the one at the biggening of Star Wars, I did a search but all the posts are really old and have dead links.

If someone could post a .swi for me to look at it would be a great help

    Thanks in advance

Try using this vortex effect - http://www.wellesley.edu/Chemistry/Vortex_ starwars.sfx - and play around with the settings. You need to download the file and put it in your Swish 2 effects directory in the vortex folder.

I did this in about 2 minutes so it is not really as clean as it might be. Play around with the camera angle and see what happens.

A sample of what it produces is at http://www.wellesley.edu/Chemistry/starwars1.swf

    Good luck,

    Flick

Are you using Swish 2? If not, that is the problem as all of these are Swish 2 files and 1.5x will not read them. If you are using version 2 do you have the most recent build? (Roger's files work fine for me.)

Way back when we had a star wars competion in 1.52
Rougenroll (metcalf) saved many of these and posted then on his site
    http://fmotion.net
You'll see them in his open swi collection under swish.
There is one that is a text resemling a tie fighter spiraling forward that is really impressive

Although I must say these V2's are very impressive

    Just an idea
What would be really nice is a new space competion based on battles or flying thru an asteroid belt 1st person. There would have to be file size limits, and to be fair (sorry Flick) would have to be all swish. any 3d objects would have to be rendered in 2D and imported as gif/jpg/png or emf/wmf.

Goto http://www.swishzone.com and make sure you have downloaded the latest update to the swish 2.0 program in order to view that file that Roger posted.

If you do it the 'obvious' way you can get a very large file size.

But with a little extra work, you can get a 300 frame star-wars effect on a moderate size bit of text (including a nice startfield backdrop) in well under 15K.

    See this example:

NOTE: The SWI is pretty big though !!!

    http://members.dingoblue.net.au/~rog...tar-Wars-2.swi
    http://members.dingoblue.net.au/~rog...tar-Wars-2.swf

(I think this may be a little nicer than my previous star-wars effect).

You can open his swi file and then double-click on the 3DSpin effect he has applied to the group, rename it as starwars and save it and it is yours. A slight different effect is applied briefly to each line of text, and you could save it also.

    Cheers,

    Flick
