nice sight I really dig the photography I've been personally eperimenting with using photographs to create a false sense of dimension on the computer screen and think if used properly is way more appealing than most flat sites

by looking at yours i have a good feeling you might like one of the siters I've been working on

    http://www.completesubmersion.pagehere.com

    be patient though no preloaders

maybe let it load at the bottom while surfing,

The opening sequence with the graphic of the office building with the 2Advanced style lights was effective. Concerning the lights near the buttons, you might wish to visit this page and copy a similar effect:

The talented designers (a man/woman team) did this site.

I don't think that the woman side of the team would appreciate some of your pictures, though. I found the soft porn at your site offensive. It should not be posted here, as it is inappropriate. You have talent. I hope that you develop your talent in a way more accaptable to general audiences.

this site looks great, I like everything about it. . .

    one question,

When you click on an icon of an image, it says "loading" jsut before the big image come up on the right. Is that a seperate file called up from the main flash file ??

if so, how do you do this?? I have a portfollio site, that I would like to be all flash but it is rather large to load with all of the images already in it??

    Thanks darin

    soft porn ???

You actually just made yourself look really stupid by calling his work soft porn maybe you have no artistic talent or training because as a person who does I know that
similar pieces are often does in class with live nude models as studies of the human anatomy, both men and women modelling and painting with no real convictions about the human form

    loading movie

    Darin,
what you would do is create a new flash file at the same dimensions as the main, with whatever it is that you would like to load into your main movie. Then in the main movie set up an action script to load the (load movie)subordinate movie, and that's it, really pretty simple.

Nice site. I like the feel of it -colour theme, bkgnd pic, soundtrack etc..- but I personally didn' t really dig the paintings -personnal taste- althought I didn't find them AT ALL "soft porn".. But then again, being french, I need a bit more than that to make me blush ;P ...

Check my (first) site if U can

I also need some constructive feedback ..and explanation to why it doesn't LoadMovie properly in Netscape.

    cheers

Great looking site, good looking art, and in no way pornographic, not even soft porn. I would suggest without upsetting people that if exposure of the female body is upsetting in an art form: an art website, or even the internet for that matter is too hostile a place for that person to be.

More to the point, if you think that not showing soft porn on a website will stop your kids seeing it, you haven't seen your local magazine shop.

A very beautiful site.... love the ambient atmosphere, generated with sound and images, but whats the special button?- nothing happened when i clicked on it!...maybe its just me...-and its like there are two different directions in ur art and the site, the opening is very technic/chrome and the page itself has a different feel to it, personally i like the site better it has more strenth in a way, the first part is a "safe" look...but on top of all this: very nice site....

    i am woman...

...and I love that someone finds a woman's body to be artful and a beautiful subject to study. The difference between art and pornography is the way one looks at it. If the subject is looked upon lustfully, it is pornography. If the subject is looked upon with honor and respect it is not.

as for the site (my apologies for perpetuating a string on a tangent) it is also artful. Very nice use of the background image. Very clean and to the point. Showcases the art nicely.

    Blessings in your work,

It is a very nice site, only I did not find a sound button and when you click on gallary one, your menu jumps a little
ohter than that it is cool.

I've been thinking a lot about flash. This site has some good examples of my problems with it.

    1. Although intros are fun to make (not to mention difficult) no one wants to watch MORE commercials. How bout making an interesting movie with content rather than "logos?"

    2. Flash movies are very hard to navigate unless navigation is built in. When I return to the main menu, I don't want the whole menu bar movie to play again, I just want the choices.

    3. General question -- are flash sites hard to get listed on search engines? How does the engine crawl your pages when there are no pages on a flash site? Information is therefore not really available for searching within site or from an external search engine.

    I'd appreciate feedback...

    Gratis,

Thank you for your comment. If asthetics are not on your list as a way to keep the attention of the visitor or to help the visitor remember your site, then maybe we should return to text only browsers. The fact is that a balance of beauty, simplicity and the ability to convey the importiant content to the viewer are what makes things work. A design that contains too much of one or not enough of the other will, without a doubt be ineffective. After all, this a site promoting design, art and flash motion graphics...everything that is asthetic.

content keeps people coming back to your site, as well as speed. Your site is great on a suped up computer (on my ibook for example), but not great on older computers (my mac g3 powerpc).

The intro is long, even though it's cool. My point is that flash tends to inspire people to make sites that are like the commercials they see on TV. These commercials are made by professionals who do it for a living, and they still SUCK!

Most people don't want to see a minute long introduction based on your logo. It is very cool, but not amazingly interesting (apart from a flash - developer perspective).

The main site is great, and original (however I don't see the need for the moving lines in the middle; the building flashes are cool enough). I would enable clicking on the words also, just to satisfy people who choose to click there.

A sound off button is cool too in case one is surfing while listening to music.

As a demonstration of what you can do as a webdesigner, the intro and site are very cool and state-of-the art, but as a website the intro must be shortened (in my opinion obviously) to end before the face icon appears in the middle of the gray bar (in between the gears). I like that part, so maybe you can put it earlier in the intro.

In the site loader (second loader), I recommend you make the loading icon more clearly loading the "site," and so people know that it's not a glitch that loads the intro again.

If possible I would combine the two galleries, or name them more distinctly (describing the differences in art).

When someone chooses "menu" I suggest you bring them back to the finished menu, rather than the menu movie loading again.

It isn't clear that you design websites until I click on introduction. Perhaps rename that button?

My previous post was meant to elucidate my point of not using flash/animation for flash's sake (even though it's cool). If you can do it better with HTML, why not use it? This doesn't necessarily apply to your particular site.

The site has a gothic atmosphere to it. Is that intentional? Where are all the colors in flash?? Everyone's so gloomy in the "future."

The "introduction" text could use some editing (I would be happy to consult with you on that).

You are very talented, and I in no way want to insult your creativity or aesthetics. Keep having fun.

    Gratis,

Again, thanks for the comment and I do appreciate the critique. Art and beauty is very subjective, that I do understand, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just as something is only worth what one is willing to pay for it(I won't use any more examples)...and oh, I checked out your site at Homepage:

    http://www.aloosenation.com

    . . .I understand now.
