    1ST wallPAPER - good / bad ?

I am curious what you guys think of this wallpaper I designed for the Eyenovation website

Its purpose was to have a beautiful set of eyes that helped extend the 'eye' image. Also - there is a lot of white on the left to help extend the look and feel of the website, in addition to allowing space for desktop items.

    http://www.eyenovation.com/exp_wp_01_800.html

If you actually use it as your wallpaper, it looks good.
See the actual website for a screen shot.

    Thanks for any feedback.

    Who's that girl

    Its actually Pam Anderson..
    What a beauty.

    Thanks for the comments.

It's nice. Is it Pam? Has she had somebody working in her lips (from her face). They look so thin...

Anyway, nice wallpaper. It's pretty simple. Not that simple is a bad thing of course...
For me it's a bit too simple but that's my opinion and my taste. It's certainly not bad for a first wallpaper. Maybe you could add some faint artwork in the top and bottom bars (the grey and black ones), some accents...

Yeah - you have a good point. Minimal has usually always been my style.. But, I just cant help and think it needs more.

Every designer tends to think of his own work that it needs something more. That's sometimes because you looked at it so many times that you're fed up with it.
If you like it minimal, it's very good. Like I said, maybe a bit more in the top and bottom bars.

    keep it up...

    Great Wallpaper

What i have learned ( probably the hard way ) is that if you are designing a wallpaper you should make it as simple as possible.

The point is that if you make if to "heavy" or complicated the icons are getting lost of hard to find.

And yes this wallpaper is on my desktop right now

On the other hand though ....

    Wallpapers are art ;-)

So you have to choose betweenexpression or usabillity heh...

( Gosh i hate the words CHOOSE and HAVE TO in art or design )

Thanks! I did use photoshop. Many layers, and a little luck. The grid effect was done in Photoshop, though there are several ways to do it. If you want, I can teach you how.

My thoughts exactly. I made the left side of the screen a little easy on the eyes so when you implemented it on the desktop, you could still see your work area.

If you could show me how to do that grid effect in Photoshop (I have Windows Version 6.0), that'd be great!

    Thanks man...

Well - you might think this is crazy.. but use the fixed size for the recatangle tool. Make it a size, say 1024 pixels wide.. 2 pixels tall. Then place it at the top on a separate layer. once you do that. Make a duplicate layer of the one you just made. Move that down below the line you just made. Then merge the two layers.

Then, copy the layer, move those 2 lines down below the other two. Merge. Then move the 4, below the four, merge.. and so on and so on..

    Then.. Once done..

Duplicate the FINAL horizontal lines into a new layer.
Rotate the layer by 90 degrees.
Merge the two.. And there you have it.

    Make sense?

sorry to ruin a good moment, but then again, there wouldn't be any good designers out there if they didn't take some constructive crit from others.
    Here's my constructive crit:
To me, it doesn't appear to be much of a wallpaper...more like a website, advertistment, or something else. Sorry...I don't know how to tell you to improve it...coz it's up to you and you may not want my 'improvement' comments...not that I have any.

    anyway..later

    Grid .... xmmm

What i actually found usefull is this approach:

If you have coreldraw u can use the grid tool which is very easy to use, and you can customize the number of rows & collumns . So i draw a grid, i export it into jpg format or psd and then i import it into photoshop. I inverse the image so i have black background and white lines, i copy paste the image into a new layer inside the image i work for ( example my wallparer ) and i set the grid layer in "screen "mode. That works fine for white grid on black backgroung.

Now i also think you can get the grid transparent if you export it into Adobe Ilustrator format (AI) and import it into photoshop... I'll look on it and i'll get back if you like.
