    Ok Im need to working with the puplic and am starting to get a lot of questions Im unsure of. I really need your imput..

    <client> I want a news section that I can update at will.
    <me> ok...Thats not be a problem.
    <client> but... I don't know what Im doing and don't want to pay anyone for the service... is there some free/very cheap software I can get that will allow me to do this?
    <me> HTML editor......hum..???

    Stuck! Which one? WYSIWYG editor for cheap????

    How do you guys handle this?
    Is there any other questions I should be on the look out for?

    Tell your client to search on http://www.tucows.com or http://www.downloads.com for a free one.
    Otherwise, find out if he has PHP. If he does, I can install a news updating package on his server for you for a small fee. I'll charge you and you can just charge him whatever you want to make.
    This way, he can just add news items right from a control panel, not even needing an editor.

    The best answer (nay, the only answer) is to use something PhP or PERL (or JAVA, CGI, whatever, so long as it allows dynamically built pages). a free app if you can use SSI's is Newspro, i cant find a link, but just search for it. It's dead easy to install, and you only need give a small link somewhere and it's free.

    Sell him a copy of a simple HTML editor? Perhaps Microsoft FrontPage.. or?

    Or there is always the 'other' alternative if you have a handy CD-R drive..

    Of course, I will get flamed for mentioning that..

    Yes... total pain in the a*s....

    The thing is I offered to do it for free and their giving me attitude like ..."Well how good is going to be... I don't know" and their site is a non 4 profit charity and it is sooooo aweful!!!!! I mean horrible!!! The Nav is at the bottom where you never notice it and it's all HTML. Looks worse then a free geocities site using templates.....

    I tried to explain I charged upwards of $35 dallors an hour and thier still like... I don't know.... Showed em a port of top level work and their still I don't know...

    What the f**k is wrong with people. Someone offers to give your company well needed free service and they still won't take.

    I just don't get it.

    I guess... Seems like really bad business sence to me..

    I just gave up on GIVING this away to these people.
    Ya know it not like there is any obligation to use the new site....

    I have had a similar problem and I got out of the job by stating that I was not able to understand what they wonted.
    This was a paided job, but the guy was getting way to over demanding for the budget. He came back the same afternoon offering to pay more.
