Does the academic version have all of the same features as the standard retail version of Flash 5?

    Thanks,

    Yes.

Also you might want to avoid receiving incorrect or misleading information from these boards if you write[or visit]directly the Macromedia website.

Go to the source to receive Macromedia information, you won't regret it.

IIRC, yes - but the academic version cannot be used for commercial purpose.

And there's no official upgrade path from the academic versions.

So if you get Flash 5, you won't be able to get the upgrade version of Flash 6 when it comes out - you'd have to buy the standard version.

If you have FL5 academ., you can get FL6 academ upgrade. Check out the MM page though, this info may have changed.

Thanks, kb - obviously I didn't know that

Live and learn, as they say!

One of my students recently got hold of the academic versions of Flash 5/Freehand 10/Fireworks/Dreamweaver for a combined price of £253. The blurb in the box said that they weren't upgradeable, but she'll be happy to know this.

Like i said, they could have changed it, and it looks like they did. It used to be $200 for Flash 5 full academical, when I got it, and 99 for the upgrade. Now, it's 99 for the full, and no upgrade available. It doesn't make any differece though...as they are both the same price. 1 product does have upgrade:

    Director 8.5 Shockwave Studio Full$699 Upgrade$199
