Any possible suggestion for giving a spotlight a soft blurry edge?

ok this has to do wiht your gradients. Make the design of the spot light that you wish using the simple line tool.
Now fill it in any color it doesnt matter cause its gonna change very soon.
Now....delete the original lines so now all you have is a filled in shape.
Now click on this shape once wiht the black arrow causing it to shade a little (cause of selection).

Now click on the Show Info option down in the lower right hand corner (its the option furthest to the left) Now click on the fill tab.... select either linear gradient or radial gradient and play around till you get the effect your looking for. It takes a while to get the nack of it but you'll get there =)

    thanks,not quite it

Thanks. Thats not quite what i was looking for. I have a most beautious gradient happening however when I use it as a mask as a spotlight it works as a solid circle. I would like to do a simple moving spot but with a soft edge. Any ideas for this?

ohhhhhhhh i see what you were saying.... ok... so you have a dragable mask in a cicle shap that views whats underneath as its over it... yu want to know how to make the edge of that circle blurry?
    hmmmmmm
is your backround (i.e. everything outside the circle) a solid color?
