I think I've seen a lightning plug-in that you can get through eyecandy. Try that.

There are a couple of diffrent eye candy programs. I thru together a quick lightning effect so you can see what it looks like. http://www.airheaded.net/lightning.gif this was
made with xenofex 1.0 filter in fireworks. I have the filter in a zip file i believe. if you want i will be glad to send it to you. ED

The lightning effects on DerBauer are created with Adobe After FX, the lightning is a build-in option.

What do you mean by build-in option? Can you please explain more to us? I'm sure it is something useful to know about. Thanks.

Sure, Adobe After FX has an option to create lightning. You can customize the lightning, for instance change the color, the speed, the size etc.

After that you can animate it and export it to a swf file and import it to your flash animation.

I hope this anwers your question

first draw a line like a lightning bolt with
the pencil tool in white colour and brush size the
minimum.(keep ur background dark so that u know what
    ur doing)
then selected the lightning layer, this can be done by
pressing the cntrl key and clicking on the lightening
    layer.
next create anew layer and drag it below the lighining
layer that u drew with the pencil tool.
now expand the selection by 2 pixels and feather it by
2 or 3 pixels and fill it with light blue colour or
what ever u feel is right

    that should do.

    hope this helps.
