my problem is if i cut an image in fireworks or photoshop using the cutting tool, it always has jagged edges, i read a tutorial once and i leant that using the "matte" thingy when exporting is suppose to add a coulour where the jaggy's are so they wont be noticable, yet it never works?
what am i doing wrong, is there another way to be rid of jagged edges?
thanks anyone

Export as a .png instead of a .gif and you might not get that problem.

yea but i wanna import it into flash without theses jaggies.

GAME ON!!!!
It might be the image size. If ther aren't enough pixdels in the image to make it look smooth the edges look blocky. This is just a guess. What dimensions is/are the image(s)?

try this
i could never get it right.. i gave up on using other software to make clean cutouts.
do it in flash. import the image and wither use a mask or what i found to work better is this:
1.import image
2.create a symbol out of it
3.make 2 layers (bmp on bottom)
4.break apart bitmap
5.on top layer create and outline trace of the object using
whichever tool you feel comfortable with
6.cut the outline and paste it onto the broken apart bmp.
now you can easily delete the unwanted portions. and fine tune.

Ya not enough pixels to give you smooth lines. There's really not to much you can do to enhance the quality. Unless you have the original image at a larger size, or can scan it in.
Try kentich's method. I am interested to hear how it works.
Also can you post the image so we can take a look at it.
