How'd they do that?

I'm curriouse if you go to http://www.edgedesign.net/
in the background they have a picture with grids and it blends into the grey. I know how to do the grid part on the pic but how do you get it to blend like that?

You have to enter the site to see the backgrounds.

looks like a simple gradient (well treated though) to me,
simply graduating from grey to transparent..
you could do it in flash or photoshop rather easily

you can select any color to use as one side of your gradient,
so you simply make a color swatch with 0% alpha and use that
kinda trickier than in flash 4, but simple once you get the jist..
