How would one go about creating an animation of a catwalk model?

The perspective is not so crucial, it could be from the front, from the side, or even from the top.

I need to create a small movie clip to this effect.

Or even animation of a pencil-sketch-like catwalk model would suffice.

    THE QUESTION IS THEN...
Is it possible to take an actual Movie(REAL or Windows Media) from somewhere and use this to create the individual frames, in a sketch like manner, which could then be using in Flash and animated (or am I barking up the wrong tree?). If so which would be a good tool to use for this, and any resources or tricks which may help with this.

Any ideas please, or just a pointer in the right direction.

    Many thanks

Here's a technique that you don't even need a computer for. It's an old animation cheat known as "Rotoscoping" It quite simply involves getting footage of the event you want to animate. A video and a TV screen would be fine for this. you place transparent cel over the screen and using freeze frame you trace off each pose you want. Obviously your cels need to be registered to the screen in some way.

Animators use a thing called a pegbar which holds animation cels with prepunched holes in place. You tape the pegbar to the screen and away you go.

This is a bit primitive perhaps but you could do the computer equivalent with any decent paint application, a graphics tablet and a series of images exported from an avi file.

You can convert your images to vector graphics within Flash using "trace bitmap"
