    I'm creating and exe file to run on a CD. my problem is with the drop down menu I've created and was wondering if anyone here had any ideas. I'm sure the answer is simple but I just can't seem to work it out.

    I've created the menu button and attached the
    following actionscript:

    on (release) {
    tellTarget ("navigation") {
    play ();
    }
    }

    I've then created a movie symbol called navigation.
    Within the navigation I've created buttons that
    should link to the various scenes within the overall
    movie. The actionscript attached to the buttons is:

    on (release) {
    gotoAndPlay ("Overview", 1);
    }
    ("Overview" is one of the scenes within the movie)

    Ok, the problem. When I click on the menu button the
    "navigation" movie works but then when I click on the
    buttons within the movie, the only thing that happens
    is the menu disappears, rather than the relevant scene
    playing.

    I've also tried the following actionscript:

    on (release) {
    tellTarget ("../"){
    gotoAndPlay ("Overview", 1);
    }
    }

    All this does is starts the movie from the begining all over again.

    Any help would be great.

    Do not use frame numbers when targeting between scenes

    always use labels.

    on (release) {
    _root.gotoAndPlay ("labelname");
    }

    This should work

    Regards...

    Thanks for your help. I ended up using

    on (release) {
    _root.gotoAndPlay ("scenename", 1);
    }
