Thread: Flash Projector Alternates

  1. #1

    Talking

I'm looking to distribute a Flash Movie as a Windows EXE and I am looking for an alternative to the standard Projector.

The biggest reason is I want to remove the top bar menu and the right mouse button menu.

What is all available and where can I get them?

    Thanks,

    borngamer

Macromedia maintains a list of third party projector tools at http://www.macromedia.com/support/fl...ites.htm#tools

You can find reviews of the tools on the MM site at http://www.koolmovers.com/reviews.php and you will find other projector tools as well but you'll have to hunt for them.

You can download a trial copy of SWF Studio from Northern Codeworks (www.northcode.com), it does everything you want. If you have any questions about it you can post them here, in the SWF Studio support forums at http://www.northcode.com/forums or send them directly to me at support@northcode.com

Its not listed hardly anywhere but you can also use MMB and either bind the EXE or create a intergrated MMB HTML to play Flash. There is a $15 SWF intergration plug-in for MMB (Making the total cost $60- worth looking into). http://www.mediachance.com

If you are only wanting to remove the top bar and the R-Click menu EXE Scope and Resource Hacker are what you want to use proabably.

Anything more and I would look into SWF Studio or MMB (Both tools have their strengths and weakenesses).

I need to swap Icons in Resource Hacker. How?

Ok, I decided to give resource hacker a try.

I easily managed to get the menus dropped. It worked great. My next question is, how do I replace the icons with my own. Every attempt ends up blowing away the icon.

    Thanks,

You click on Icons and then select the icon and use the replace resource feature. It's pretty easy.

I gave Jugglor a try and really liked it

I did give your demo a try and thought it was great. I was really impressed that your program dropped my exe by close to 200k.

At the moment I am using ExeScope. But once things pick up on my site I will definately purchase Jugglor just to save on filesize.

    Thanks for all the replies,

Yes your right. Jugglor uses it's uncompress methods, which sometimes the final exe ends up smaller then the original projector with the new engine inside it !!

    Glad to be of assistance
