Hi folks, I need some help.

I've created a flash greeting card and published it as an .exe file which allows the user to personalize it with a message. The problem is when the file is closed it of course will not save the changes. How can I make this possible? Something to do with adding a button and script with the FSCommand "exec" command? Or, is there a utility that will make it possible?

I can give you the address of a site which has a number of downloadable .exe files that WILL save the changes if you are not sure what I am talking about. When you open it the second time it is the way you modified it and cannot be personalized.

I'd appreciate any insight or advice. Thanks very much for the help.

Does the EXE file keep the customizations when you move it to another machine? They may be storing the settings in an external file, or in the registry.

Hello again, thanks for the quick reply.

Yes it does work in another person's computer. I just tested it in my colleague's computer. Anyone can try by going to http://www.greeting-cards.com and then downloading a supercard (they are all free).

Hope that will help understand the situation. Thanks again!

With me not looking at the files directly (being lazy at the moment) I would assume they are building the swf's on the server after you enter the details, then adding the projector wrapper while on the server. But thats my guess anyone have theres?

It's possible to overwrite strings inside the Flash projector to customize text message and such but you need some kind of external application to make the changes. They could have a set of canned SWF files and just apply your mods to the SWF before they send it to you. That would let you turn it into an EXE and still retain the changes.

This isn't even a projector file. It may have flash embeded in it, but it's definately not a projector file. Possibly a DemoShield file or some other presentation file. I'm not even aware of a projector being able to store values within itself.

You may be able to open it with a hex editor and find out where it stores the values. This way, you can make a program to unlock it so you can remodify it?
