Hello All!
I need to pick one of the two software:
1. 3D Studio Max
2. MAYA
Wich one????? That's the big Q.
Anyway... I'm just wondering ...
Anyone know what's the price for MAYA?
-
If price is no option, pick Maya. I seem to recall Maya Unlimited is about $16K, list.
If you are on a budget (like me), the upcoming MAX 4 looks really interesting.
good luck!

Thanks Matrix!
16K... (!) ehhh????
So - When the 3D Studio Max 4 coming?

Check out the Magma post in the 3D forum. My guess is early next year, possibly at or before NAB. The preview at this point in time is really a new strategy for Discreet.
Current MAX list is $3500 and you can expect to add at least $2-3K in plug-ins to have some real fun
good luck!

If you are looking for a free authoring environment you may want to wait a bit and see what the new 3D gMax that is being created for gaming will be like. Discreet plans to release the new program sometime in November if my memory serves right. I may be wrong on that. Check out computer arts magazine website for the article. Hey if it models like Max and animates and your only going to do vector output then its a great solution. Regards, Bill

Pretty solid advice. With the money you save up front, and all the $$$ you will make from 3D Flash, you can buy Maya
good luck and have fun!

Hmmm.... I need to break up my pigggy bank... I guess...

i really have seen no 3d flash that would require Maya. by far the best 3d ive seen is the titoonica stuff, and thats all Max. I really don't think the level of animation that is seen requires maya.
