Thread: + and * dont show in a text box linked to a text file!

    Hi,
    Does anyone know anything about this? When I display the content of a text file in a text box it dosn't show caracters such as +, *, &

    I s there anything to do about this?

    Umm...dont have the code on me, but you could try writing a string replacer function...

    like, the text file instead of "*" could have the string "_ReplAsterix"

    and when loaded into the move, occurences of "_ReplAsterix" are replaced with "*"

    if you can do a search and replace on your text file before uploading it then use the escape characters detailed in macromedia flash technote #14143.

    and use the little search box at the bottom.

    There is stacks of useful stuff in there, but you have to know what to ask (i.e. 'special characters in text files' will bring up a number of hits including the one that covers this).
