    Does anybody know how to get movie files to work in Flash??

    File --> Import --> From the dropdown menu, choose .mov. Import the movie into a flash MC though, keep it nice and neat.

    You can not play a .mov file directly from in Flash since Flash does not support video.

    What you have to do is break the mov down into an image sequence and then import that sequence. You can also use conversion software to convert .mov files to swf and then import the swf.
