the key is to export the video as a series of bitmaps, most video editors have this function. Then import the bitmaps into flash in a movie clip and sort thru them, taking out unnecesaary frames. Then trace each frame, using flash's trace bitmap tool, then go thru again and optimise each frame, using the optimise tool.

for the best results you want to create a video like the habitat one, where your subjects are simple filled outlines. You can get close to this is most editing programs by playing with colour depth and threshold tools. It's really a matter of experimentation, but try to film your video with as much foreground background contrast as possible.

once you have your video clip with optimised video frames in it you can use it where and however you like, using actionscript you can run through the movie clip backwards for example... stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down, etc and of course using effects on the instance on stage

there's no easy method to doing this and attention to detail gets you the best results.

hi there, your video program will export the frames as bitmaps in a number sequence, flash will recognise this when you import the first one and prompt you to import the rest. It will place them on the timeline as a sequence. Remember that the frame rate will effect the speed of your sequence. Then just optimise them as i laid out in the post above, the optimise tool is on the 'modify' menu i think, i don't have flash handy though.

    Good luck and enjoy!
