Harry Potter RPG!

Hey yall!
I'm building (for the past 6 months!) an RPG in Flash based on the Harry Potter book series by Joanne Rowling.
But I've run into a problem. (as always)
I'm really close to finishing, but I've discovered that the entire thing will be useless because of flashes horrible problem to re-set.
Here we go:
1) When you enter the RPG (which is based, not on Hogwarts*tm* but is another wizarding school called Thrushpeaks) you are a student.
2) You're sorted into a 'house'
3) You compete against other houses to earn the most points.

Sounds simple right?
Wrong!
1)When I leave Thrushpeaks (the game) and re-enter, the house points have re-set to 0
2)I can only see the house points I earn, points scored by others in my house do not get added to the score.

This is the biggest prob I've ever met, I need help to conquer it!
I use Flash 5, am a terrible scripter but for the score thing I used tell_target. There must be a way flash can "auto save" or something, but as for the compiled score, that needs some serrious multi-player script doesn't it?! (freaking out)

well im thinkign that you could get everyones personal score by sticking a cookie on their system with the score, or using PHP to write everyones name and text score to a file then getting them, this is most likely very hard to do though considering that you'll need a php enabled server and need to know the right script to do it, or with the cookie method you'll need to know a bit of javascript.

But this really lovely guy I know is going to help me build a database (MySQL) with PHP, it'll help with the whole user password thing, and I'll be able to have heaps of extra features like IMing, and user webpages!
