Any suggestions on a good system with good tech support if needed?

Hey.
Alienware has a good one. Its rather pricy, but they have a great history of technical support etc. Comes with recovery cd and all that. This computer is for DV editing, that is what you are looking for. Check it out at http://www.alienware.com/main/system_pages/2001dv.asp

i have been on pcs all my life. but am really looking at imac. shame it has closed arquitecture though.

Yeah Imacs are good for design, but pc's are good for programming, however, this alienware one is a good hybrid between design and programming.
