Recently, I did an embedded Flash movie for the Embassy of Indonesia. http://www.globescope.com/indonesia. For some reason, this movie as well as others I have made for my design company are choppy when there is a lot animation (notice when the country of Indonesia comes out from Asia). I am looking for the secret to making smooth animation in Flash. Something like what you always see on http://www.2advanced.com. Is there some sort action scripting that needs to be done, or am I just not utilizing the frames per second attribute in the movie properties correctly? Any help you have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

OK, one of the reasons the animation is choppy is because the map of indonesia is incredibly complex. This will more noticable on slower pc's. Most of the animation on 2advanced uses as simple shapes as possible to keep the framerate up.

A few things you could try:

Adjust the framerate of the movie, make it 20-30 fps instead of the default 12.

Make the map of indonesia simpler, select the shape, then click on modify and then optimise.

    Make it smaller.

If you're using a motion tween, make use of easing in/out for a more pleasing looking animation.

Oh, you put a . on the end of the url again, so it don't work properly.
