Hiya
I'm making a catalogue in flash 4 as a projector file to run on someones laptop.
Can you set a button to open a pdf or word file while the flash show is running?
Cheers

Go to http://www.flashgeek.com and go to the tutorial section. Halfway through in the middle of the page are tutorials on how to open any file/program, from within Flash. (includes files to download to make it work)
The beauty is, it opens the files up in there respective applications, and NOT inside a browser window.

You could use 3rd party tools or command line calls..
A command line call would allow you to launch a any file in it's default application.. but the downside being a quick DOS window
These are the best two tutorials I know of (there's .bat tutorials here at flashkit but there not as good)
http://flashtools.net/tutorials/ftoo...ve_methods.htm
http://actionscript.org/tutorials/be...cs/index.shtml
As for 3rd party tools you can take your pick the best for just calling file types in there default applications would be:
my tools, ***********s, northcode's
http://***********.com
http://northcode.com
http://flashtools.net
There are many other tools available I just cannot recommend them with confidence (like flashgeek )

Nope use applescript or for cross-platform
Use applescript for Mac
3rd party tools/command line calls for Windows
