i imagine you would have to use masks
one black gradient mask at the top such as this pattern:
gradient_ top=black, bottom=whatever color your movie is
and then bottom gradients would be
gradient_bottom=black, top=whatever color your movie is
    hope this helps

Too bad there isn't any real perspective in Flash. Um...would something like Swift3D be able to do that? Can you insert text, pitch it back, and then run it?

i know u can do this effect combining freehand and flash, i saw a tutorial on it once, but took so long to learn how to use freehand i thought screw it.

this is how i would do the effect...

1.create your text in fireworks and skew it so it looks bigger at the front and smaller at the back (give it perspective).

2.then export it as a flash document.

3.import it or open it in flash.

    4. make a simple tween, try going from big to small, or maybe an upward movement going smaller, experiment till u get desired result.

create the text in swift 3d with a depth of 0.1

animate it so it scrolls down

rotate the first and final keyframe by 45 degrees

    export to flash.

    thats how I'd do it!

Yeah, but by distorting in a vector program, you'll just be dealing with tweening one symbol, not swift's frame by frame memory bloater.
