FLASH 5 compatibility

hi, im just new in web dev and in integrating flash to my web page. Im having a hard time testing my site since it produces diff behaviors accross browsers.

my question is what would be the earliest version for netscape and IE that already support flash ( flash 5 in particular) is there a way that i can check a browser so that i can have an alternative if the browser is older??

For testing in Netscape browsers make sure you have the plugin intsalled in those browsers.
