can someone explain why, one day, out of the blue, when I launch Flash 5, it freezes my G4.
One day it was working, the next day I have been unable to get it to work. Reinstalling didn't solve the problem.
has anyone else had this happen? What could it be? I am running minimal extensions as it is, what more could clash with Flash 5????? ... help...!!

I had the same problem and I just optimized my hard drive and that seemed to fix it for me.

Also, go to http://www.versiontracker.com and install the latest firmware update for your G4. Now if that doesn't work... then format your hardrive and start from scratch

    Hope this helps!

I hate to say this, I am sure you are aware ut just in case...You do have 5.0a right? I never had a crash like that, but giving it about 250mb of ram keeps it runnin' silky smooooooth. Most of my problems started after importing lots of audio files and images. Regular system maitenace helps too, run Norton every night to check for problems, then rebuild the desktop after restarting. This method has kept me crash free for so long that i am hanging of the edge of my chair wondering what kind of damn games my G4 is playing.

Like Urban said, make sure you have 5.0a. That made a lot of difference for me.

I had exactly the same kind of FREEZE/CRASH.
V.5a definately works and also try turning the TOOL TIPS in the preferences off. You should'nt need to format anything.
