Hello, I was wondering why when i sometimes write html in my formatted text boxes in Insane Flash 3.5 they will show up when I preview the movie but not when I preview in the browser?? and also does anyone know how to make the scrolling windows like kawasaki has on their website (go to http://www.kawasaki.com, then click on ATVs, then Lakota, then Specs and you will see the window I am talking about.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks

If you have a repeatable bug in the formatted HTML, please send the .movie file to support@insanetools.com with a description of the problem you are having.

Are you talking about the window that rolls downward? If that's it, I would also be happy to learn how.

As for the text box, this is pretty advanced thing. Not really that hard but you'll have to have a clear understanding of all of the following:

    Child movies
    List of actions
    Picture buttons
    layers

The window is a child movie probably a loaded movie.
the elements are a would be a layer of elements which would house the text (they probably use a database to fill in the text). Then you draw your own scroll bar graphics as picture buttons, that then move your layer of text up and down use a list of actions to keep track of the position of your layer so that it is confined to your window. You may need to use a mask element so that it doesn't show through as well. I'd probably look into using javascript now that it's available would probably make it easier to do. If I get around to it perhaps I'll give it a whirl and post an example at into3dfa(http://deadyeti.com/into3dfa/) site.

I belive Jason and Shell have worked out examples of this at http://deadyeti.com/into3dfa

I am also trying to learn how to do scrolling text fields using 3dfa, I have searched everywhere. I cannot find a tutorial nor find help. I have e-mailed support, I havent received a response. There are plenty of tutorials for the other flash programs, but not for 3dfa. I would appreciate it very much if someone could help me as well.

Thank you very much for your quick response and your help.
I am pretty sure, that because of the "example" you posted, I will finally be able to understand how it's done.
Thank you very much Jason. (You Paid It Forward)

Oh Jason, just a small note: You should add an action to the mouseleave event so that if you take the mouse off the button while depressed it will still stop scrolling. Been meaning to tell you this about the into3dfa site too.

And Jason forgot to mention that he and I have been working hard to provide examples and resources for 3dfa at our (well Jason's but I help) site

    Brett,
I noticed that one myself a while back, been leaving them that way because it's simpler to get to the bottom than holding the button down, click it drag off, and let it go.

I'm actually suprised anyone even noticed.

    Speaking of into3dfa................

..............Look for an update to 'Resources', soon, very soon.

    -Jason
