best true pixel fonts and where to get em
Hi,
You all sound like you know what you're talking about.
I'm very interested in building a small library of high-quality pixel fonts. Specifically, I'm looking for one that looks as much like Arial 12 as possible.
Would someone be so kind as to give some names and possibly point me in the direction of specific pixel fonts that y'all are happy with?
Thanks very much.

I would start with Arial_11 for Flash. I can't remember exactly where it is found but Google will. It is one of the ones shown here - http://www.wellesley.edu/Chemistry/F...ixelfonts.html

How do you know?
Hey neway-
I was looking at this most recently posted link and wondered:
How do you know when a pixel font is a "fake"?
-
to find out if a pixel font is a dud or not, you have to install it. put it on the stage in Flash at 0,0 coordinates, then put it at 5,6,7,8... until it looks clear, if you get to 20 and its still not clear - you have more than likely got a dud.

Theory 7 was correct... for me at least. I was having the crappiest problems with pixel fonts - i would have them in a button, they would look okay, put them in the scene or a MC, and they would appear blurry. Well i would change their width and height to xx.2, xx.5, or xx.7, and all works now. Thanks theory 7... seems like you were right over everyone else !

glad it worked for you
but I didn't recommend that you change the width/height, but the x, y coordinates instead, well if that works as well though, cool

I am actually having other font issues. I'm not sure how to link to other threads other than listing the url:

Maybe some of you are having the same problem?

NEWAY...i was wondering if you could be so kind to have a look at my flash file as well, i'm having the same pixel font problem, i've read ALL threads and post relating to this and still no luck, this issue has been haunting me for weeks now, and now that i've finally finished my site all that needs to be done before uploading is fixing the fonts.
so if you're willing to take the time, i would appreciate it immensely!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just thought I would add my two cents on this subject. The "whole numbers" approach worked for me without using dynamic text boxes.

i'm using a pixel font titled 04b_03 (win/mac) and it works without blurring, but the center of certain letters fills in on export. letters o, d, b, etc. all end up having the clear space filled.
can anybody dispense for me some wisdom about this? am i screwed or is there a work around?
