what is the best solution if you find a really cool font you want to use in a flash project but most users probably won't have them installed on their machines?

You needn't worry about the font itself, Flash embeds ALL the fonts in use in your movie, so the user does not need to have the exact font you're using in order to view it-

You can choose pretty much any font for your Flash movie, and the user will still be able to view it in its entirety, and correctly,
