Thread: Flash, PHP and cookies question

Anyone know how to utilize cookies properly?

I'm familiar with the setcookie() function but how do I get flash to read what is in the cookie? do I use the echo() function?

I basically have a PHP voting script at my site: http://www.theCYNTER.com and I want to keep naughty users from voting more than once.

    thanks!

    Hi,

your html page should check the cookie. Normally you would use document.write to create the embedding for the movie and add the cookie value, but in this case you could even generate just a message rather than load the movie...
What happens if the user has set the browser to reject all cookies?

    Musicman,

Thanks for the link but I thought it was possible to just use PHP to send the variables to Flash...i.e. a PHP script that checks the cookie value and then passes a variable to Flash so no javascript has to be used.

    cheers,

    dave
