    Any other questions???

I gave some more details regarding the free transform tool in the above link.

Does anyone else have any questions?

Honestly I feel Flash MX is a very solid release. I love the new UI! Macromedia has added and improved so many features!

Did you guys know smartclips are now called components?
Components are displayed within a panel. Flash MX comes with pre-built components and you can also design your own that can be displayed within the actual panel. With components, the Flash exchange is going to be crazy!!!

How do you get your head through the door?! Are you referring to yourself in the third person?

Very nice demo but damn, can you bring down the bs a little bit...btw, it's 'Macromedia' not 'Marcomedia'.

    My Credentials...

    Thanks Alohaha :-)

bionikman, I list my credentials so people can learn about me. If I didn't people wouldn't know who I am. I have many credentials in which people don't know about. Such as I am also ranked the #1 beta tester for Flash 5 by Macromedia, Inc.

Anyways, I'm only 19 years old and I put countless hours into helping improve Macromedia software. I'm very proud of what I do. It's like if I was a music artist and I won an MTV music award... your basically telling me I should put it in a box and not show anyone.

Back to the orignal topic of this post... Flash MX, anyone else have any questions that I may be able to help with? I'll be checking this message board until Flash MX ships...

    Kind Regards,

    Is the scrollbar component pre-made?

If so, could you click on it and see the actionscript? And is the actionscript editable?

    I'm so excited!

Thanks for the posts and demo.

    Ashley,

how did you get that position? How would i go about becoming a beta tester?

PS nice demo! will you incorporate all that is in Macromedia's current demo?

Very nice indeed! I love that break apart command for letters. Can that command(Break and then distibute to seperate layers) be used for operating on groups of vectors that are copied from Illustrator? That would be extremely useful. One more thing.. how come you never made reference to the video streaming in MX? That is a feature which is totally exciting.

Is there a more straight forward (and cross platform) way to save or append to local text files from the Flash player or a projector? (Not from the Flash plug-in.)

I have personally verified one fixed bug: you can now successfully load variables from a web URL from a Macintosh projector.

check out this thread on sharedObjects:
    http://board.flashkit.com/board/show...hreadid=275997

We no longer have to write to a text file to store variables!

    MX question

Is mouse wheel scrolling possible with Flash MX scrollbars? Are there now mouse events related to mouse wheels?

  18. #18

sandalwood, Thanks! :-) yes to your question. It is pre-made, you can view the code. You can create a text box on the stage... drag the component over the text box... and the scroll bar will automatically resize itself to the text box... does everything for you!... You have to see it to believe it!

asheep_uk, Thanks :-) Glad to see so many people like it! Pass the link around! :-)

akamrbungle, this is my 13th beta. Macromedia hand selects people to give them a chance. If you do great... they keep you... if not your gone....For Flash 5 I hit #1 beta tester worldwide and now I'm on the FMX about us credit page because of my countless amount of hours helping MM. So basically I'll be around for a long time. BTW, I believe there are only 250 beta testers... out of the 600,000+ Flash designers worldwide.

Aelo, yes to your question. Why didn't I show off the video/audio feature in the preview? I can not speak on this because of an NDA outside of Flash MX. Sorry. Glad you enjoyed my preview :-)

Kraken and MaXed, yes sharedObjects are beyond useful!!! I love them so much! Makes life a lot easier. A quote from MM, "sharedObjects are like super cookies in Flash!"

biochem333, nope... there are no commands for your mouse wheel... nice idea though! :-)

Come on guys!... More questions? Keep them coming!

    1. you can view the actionscript;

    2. you can make components that subclass existing components.

    3. you can change the look of the components by skinning them, or by using global style sheets (not css).

btw, we are going to have a lot of information on this next week on the:

    Macromedia Designer / Developer Center
    http://www.macromedia.com/desdev/

    hope that helps...

    WOW

Beta tester, your only 19! I was 18 about 1 month ago and I don’t think that I will ever be at your level! I have been using flash for just under 2 years now and fell in love with it straight away. I was using it when ever I could for my school course work people said I was flash mad!

How long have you been using it?
    And... What’s your secret?

Also if I had creds like yours I would be showing them off too!
    Good on ya!
