    quote from the article:

1 All the products that carry an MX moniker (okay, I do have a marketing background) are part of an integrated product family. So far, we've announced ColdFusion MX and Flash MX. We believe that product integration between tools and servers will help you build complex projects faster.

2 The products that are MX-branded are more significant upgrades when compared to a normal whole number upgrade. Going from Flash 5 to Flash 6 (if there were such a thing—Flash MX *is* the next version of Flash) is great. But going from Flash 5 to Flash MX—now that's an upgrade. You're getting a whole new type of product.

3 MX signifies that Macromedia is attempting something new with these releases. IMHO, Macromedia Flash MX is a not only a revolutionary release—it's part of a bigger evolution of Macromedia. I can't say much more, as Macromedia Flash MX is just the beginning, but the coming months will bear this out.

    ...

So MX means nothing specific, it's a graet marketing idea ... do you saw all this "what is the meaning of MX" threads? Great marketing is all I can say. (And I'm sure the MX products will be even greater!)

    Flash MX - Marketing eXcuse

    Yep, Good Marketing Idea.

    Personally I don't think it's innovative though...

It's been a year since Microsoft named Visual Studio (7) "Visual Studio .NET". Microsoft hae gone through many of their products and services and added this ".NET" moniker.
It seems Macromedia have decided it's working, and that it might work for them.

Anyone willing to make a guess as to the next name?
Anyone know if Adobe are going to take this route too?

Microsoft should name all their products "XB" (eXtended Bug)

    MX --> maybe Multimedia eXtreme

Yeah, Win XP is not bad (I still love my G4 Mac), but in general, MS products have a lot bugs. (Just had one five minutes ago in Word that crashed the hole system)

But anyway, programs are so much bigger then ten years ago, so no wonder that they crash sometimes. Thx god that the Flash plugin runs very stable.

Anyone noticed this: NetObjects Fusion MX 6.0

    Version 6
    MX
    Fusion (Cold Fusion)

    ...

Do you see the problem when someone wanna search for Flash MX and Coldfusion MX?

If you read between those lines, you know the exact meaning:

    Macromedia Xpanded

These new products are the next generation of products of Macromedia. It's the eXpanded line of products.

Well, that´s a very wise definition, though almost are, but this one I like best.
