    Gifs can have transparency, not sure how well flash loads it.

    Jpg's never could have transparency

    Ask Megatoon, but I am pretty sure only .gif and .png can have transparency

    jpeg2000 has transparency support but i dont think flash supports jpeg2000, therefore only .gif and .png can have transparent pixels for use with flash. This is the same for flash 5.

    I'm still waiting for alpha transparency with bitmaps in Flash (Heard something about a workouround for this, but I'm not sure)
