    I hoped that MX would provide better text formating options this time around. I do a lot of elearning and would love the ability to have it format bullets etc. They have not improved this one bit. Ticks me off.

    WRONG!

    Maybe you should read the action script docs a little more carefully there feller.

    Action script gives you complete control over every imaginable aspect of text formatting, not to mention the ability to create on-the-fly text fields and dynamic resizing of text boxes. 1001% better!

    It even gives you your bullets! Text support is the biggest improvement guy... check your docs!

    Check the following:

    _root.createTextField("nText",0,20,20,90,40);
    _root.nText.multiline=true;
    _root.nText.wordWrap=true;

    var format = new TextFormat();
    format.color = 0xff0000;
    format.bullet = true;

    _root.nText.text="HELLO WORLD";
    _root.nText.setTextFormat(format);

    Sounds good but...

    What if I wanted different types of text formating? Like, 1 paragraph of text, then 5 bulleted items in the same text area? Otherwise whats the point in these TextFormat tools if you cant mix em?

    Cheers,

    John

    There is a new HTML tag which flash 6 player supports, unordered list: <l>

    So you can do this:

    Code:
    this.createTextField("mytext",1,0,0,200,100)
    mytext.html=true
    for(i=1;i<=20;++i){
        mytext.htmlText+="<li>Another bulleted line</li>"
    }

    I am absolutely stunned at the amount of control, over every aspect, all via actionscript.
    whew.
