I was recommended to this site by flashbuttons.com. I was wondering what script can be added to cause a .swf not to load if a FLASH player is not installed, and to then inform a surfer that they need to download a FLASH player.

I was experimenting with Netscape Navigator which didn't have a FLASH player installed. On one site with .swf files, the page download stopped and a popup with a warning came up stating that a FLASH player was needed. Another site attempted to download the FLASH presentation and shut down the browser, causing other problems with the PC as well.

    Thx.

Try the Scripting and Backend forum ... they should have some good links to tutorials, etc.

    Hi.
I spent a lot of time looking through the scripts. Most of it was "undecipherable" to me, but I will keep looking for something that makes sense to me and let you know. I even went to macromedia.com to check out some "kit" that was mentioned in some of the postings.

    This might work:
    <embed src="yourflashmovie.swf"><img src="noflash.jpg"></embed>

This should bring up the "noflash.jpg" layer if they have'nt got flash......and that layer will have a hyperlink in directing them to the flashplugindownload site.....
tell me if it works as I have no time as Im buiding the site and doing that last.........thanks
