Even if Macromedia wanted to have your IP, they couldn't do anything with it.

If they did it would be against the law (data protection act)

.......why? Got an ilegal copy there dave....?

    Hi,

until about 1 1/2 years ago, I was paying internet access per minute. I was, of course, concerned with everything happening on the local net that opened a connection without reason.
The big offender was microsoft, at that time: have you ever seen IE asking for a connection, just to be able to open pages on a local webserver?
There are still a lot of users around here who pay by minute...

    thanks guys

Thanks for the inside. But even with a purchased (so much for the rumor here) copy of Flash its not a very nice act to force the user to log on. May be i am just not convinced that they have a backdoor in the mac.

    the answers panel

Also if you notice in your panels you have an answer panel. This panel has to have a connection in order to work it downloads the latest news, exchange info, technotes, etc.

Didn't know this. But still, not everyone has a flatrate or want to access the net. I just went back home to germany for a vacation and there are things different. Telekom and other internet providers just start to offer flatrates and you still have a long waiting time. Thats all.

Anyhow, glad to know more now

I prefer to know what and when I am downloading anything, I dont like updates unless I have checked them out carefully so I hope that panel has a no option.

nor does mine (with the one exception of the previously mentioned "Answers" panel) - that one will connect to macromedia, but only when I say, and only to get any new help type items, etc..
