    http://www.nytimes.com - usually just browse through their newsletter to catch the latest on stuff.

    http://www.abcnews.com


    Further numerous german news sites like
    http://www.spiegel.de
    http://www.web.de

    and I can recommend to get this newsletter it's quite goodof an info feed:

    http://www.smalla.de

    on the bottom it says join list. brings you a daily short (5 items) of varied news, rather good / reliable.
