on your keyboard, there is a little key usually on the top right, in between f12 and scroll lock, it says 'print screen' on it, so hit that button, then go to whatever program you want to put that screen shot into, then press ctrl V to paste the screen shot in. that should work

if your talking about taking screen shots of other programs, yes.
you can take screenshots of pretty much anything on your screen.

yeah i was talking about screen shots.
would it be the same for photoshop?

yup, i think if you hold alt or ctrl when you press print screen it only does the active screen or something. Check your windows help manual.

What I do is get the stuff set up on screen the way that I want it. Then I press <Print Scrn>. I open photoshop and paste it in edit > paste, then I edit it as I need to.

Now, if I just want to copy the menu item and not the whole program I use: <Alt - Print Scrn>

Your print screen command works in ANY program running under Windows (because it isn't the program that executes it, it is the OS)BUT only do it if the screen is static (ie, dont try to capture movies or games etc) because this tends to turn out horrible. If you really want to take some serious screen shots (for ALL programs, not just those reliant on running under Windows) these are heaps of capture programs, one I think is called TNT or something of the like.
I just can't believe you'd never heard of the Print Screen button and its uses...by the by, I love your footer!
