hello all.....
I suppose this is an easy one if you know what your doing. I obviously dont.
I just upgraded to OS X, because it has an apache web server, so i can "hopefully" test out my PHP, Perl and access/sql database "stuff". Being a mac man i'm not any good at this server side stuff.
Now that i have installed os X, does this mean i can execute scripts locally and view them in my browser????
Is the apache web server already installed and ready to go???
what do i need to do to test out my scripts????
thanks all

__OSX powered__
First: good choice of OS
Apache is already set up and will start when you log in (if not -> go to the terminal and type "sudo apachectl start" and write your password when asked for it)
The PHP module is installed, but not enabled by default:
Open up a terminal go :
Code:
cd /private/etc/httpd
Then type
Code:
sudo pico httpd.conf
and look for
Code:
#LoadModule php4_module libexec/httpd/libphp4.so
Uncomment that line (take away the "#"), and go down a page or so until you find :
Code:
#AddModule mod_php4.c
Unncomment that as well and save it ([CTRL-o] and [CTRL-x] to quit pico
Now type in
Code:
sudo apachectl restart
and you should be set to use PHP on OSX!!

okay that was 2 weeks ago or so. I'm finally getting round to sorting myself out. OS X is actually pretty damn fine. Apart from me lacking in software to run on OS X everthing else is great. Managed to get my hands on a os X server book. which I would highly recommend to ppl who are in my position. That is ppl who aint got a clue and wanna learn from scratch.
took me like an hour to figure out what the heck a terminal was - not saying the tuts on the web aint good. they are, but there are about 20 different ways to do things, so it can all get a bit confusing.
ps. Mysql/php rocks. finally i have the chance to play with them.
enjoy all
