Only if you use keyframes, because you can't yet give a 3d object properties. You'll need to have your buttons send it to the keyframe that has the event that rotates it on the correct axis, and then back to a starting point.

Keyframe 1 goes to 2 and stops:

    button 1 goes to 3

    3 rotates object & goes to 4

    4 goes back to 1

    button 2 goes to 5

5 rotates on another axis & goes to 6

6 goes to back to 1

    etc., etc...........

Also you might want to do all of this on a child movie, the buttons can be anywhere though, as long as they point to the correct movie.

    Thanks,
The important Jason already it comment and works perfectly.

Additionally what it is used is a call to frame in where wants that the object rotates in any axis using "Goto Frame" within the Action for a Button Down or Button Up, etc.

And within frame uses the Rotate selected 3D Model event

It can uses Place Object before any thing if it wants that the object moves first and later it rotates.
When you do click on the button the block turns on its axis.
Only an example in case you wish to study it.

    rotate 3d object

    Thanks for the help,

I tried the key frames idea last night my only problem is that when I put the stop in (ie. the "UP" button would jump to keyframe 2 then I had the action in keyframe 2 then a stop at the begining of keyframe 3) my movie would stop but i had trouble getting it to go again ect.. I will play with the "stops" some more.

    Thanks,
